One of a string of pretty villages nestled below the north western edge of the moors. Swainby's most distinctive feature is Scugdale Beck, flowing through the middle of the village, with a road on each side of the beck. The Cleveland Hills are at their most rugged to the east of Swainby.
Swainby has a village shop, pubs and plenty of parking.
Swainby is on Ordnance Survey Explorer Map OL26 (North Yorks Moors Western Area)
