Like all of the moor's waterfalls, what you see at Falling Foss will depend on the time of year and the amount of rain that had fallen over the last few days. On my last visit, in March 2006, Falling Foss was a dramatic waterfall, thundering into a turbulent plunge pool. However, visit in high summer and Falling Foss is a gentle stream, trickling over a fall that is clearly too big for it, into a tranquil woodland pool.
Next to the waterfall is the intact shell of a house, Midge Hall, which was for sale but already under offer in March 2006.
There is a car park close to the waterfall.
Falling Foss is on Ordnance Survey Explorer Map OL27 (North York Moors Eastern Area)
