Source of the River Riccal

Source of the River Riccal

This picture shows the area where the River Riccal is born. The valley of Bonfield Gill is in the centre of the picture. Cowhouse Beck beck flows into the picture from the left (hidden below the trees), and the River Riccal flows out to the right (also out of sight - the silvery strip in the bottom right is actually a farm track leading to Howl Wood Farm (centre right). This picture was taken from the view point near to a car park on the road from Carlton village into Bransdale, at the northern end of the Tabular Hills. Note the peak of Birk Nab on the skyline to the right, marking a high point on the Tabular Hills
